We envision a world where grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa, who are raising the next generation after the devastation of HIV and AIDS, thrive with the support and resources necessary to foster healthy, vibrant communities and create a hopeful future for their grandchildren.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to support and empower grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who have taken on the role of raising children orphaned by HIV and AIDS. Through fundraising, awareness, and solidarity, in partnership with the Stephen Lewis Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, we strive to provide these resilient women and the orphaned and vulnerable children in their care with the resources they need to rebuild their communities.

The December meeting is the Orange The World Vigil.

The Next General Meeting will be held

on January 15th, 2025

at 2:00 P.M.

at Burlington Baptist Church

GASP member Marilyn Ortwein shared the quote below. She credits Linda Rafuse, chair of Burlington Ubuntu Grandmothers for adding the quote to a recent meeting agenda. Perfect for GASP and for the Grandmothers Campaign in the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

“A grandmother is a tree with her arms as outstretched branches providing shelter for saplings and new growth, and her roots running deep into the core of her community. Together, we are a forest that sustains the world.”
